About
Welcome to China Trip Kit
Traveling to China is an adventure of a lifetime, but let's be honest: it’s different here.
If you’ve tried to plan your trip, you’ve probably realized that the tools you rely on—Google Maps, Uber, Credit Cards, and WhatsApp—don't work the way they do back home. The "Digital Great Wall" can be more challenging to navigate than the actual Great Wall.
That is why China Trip Kit exists.
We are not just a travel blog. We are a digital bridge designed to help independent travelers, business visitors, and families navigate China's unique digital ecosystem with confidence.
Who Is Behind This?
Hi, I’m Vince, the founder of China Trip Kit.
I am a software engineer and a local resident based in China. I’m also a father to a 5-year-old.
Living here, I see foreign travelers struggling every day—standing at a subway station unable to buy a ticket, or staring at a menu they can't translate because their internet is blocked. I realized that most travel guides show you where to go, but they don't teach you how to survive the logistics.
I decided to use my background in tech to solve this. I built this platform to decode the complexity of Chinese apps and services for you.
What You Will Find Here
Our goal is to remove the friction from your trip so you can enjoy the culture. We focus on the practical "How-To" guides that are essential for modern China travel:
Mastering Mobile Payments: Step-by-step guides on setting up Alipay and WeChat Pay with your international Visa/Mastercard. (Cash is rarely used here!)
Transportation Hacks: How to use DiDi (China's Uber) without speaking Chinese, and how to navigate the high-speed train system.
Staying Connected: The truth about eSIMs, Roaming, and VPNs to keep your Instagram and Gmail working.
Language Tools: Beyond "Ni Hao"—we provide digital flashcards and survival phrases that actually work in emergencies.
From Website to App
While this website provides the in-depth knowledge you need before you fly, we are also developing the China Trip Kit App (Coming Soon).
The App is designed to be your pocket companion, featuring:
Offline Survival Cards: Show addresses to taxi drivers even without a signal.
Menu Decoder: AI-powered analysis of food menus (knowing what is spicy and what is kid-friendly).
One-Tap Navigation: Seamlessly bridging English addresses to Chinese map apps.
Start Your Journey
China is safer, more modern, and more welcoming than you might think—once you have the right tools.
